The FMO position on the district provides leadership in the protection of life, property, and the state’s natural resources through planning, coordination, direction, and implementations of wildfire prevention/mitigation programs, wildfire suppression response activities, and prescribed burning programs.

The FMO supervises and coordinates the training and orientation of new and current firefighters. Plans and implements an annual training program to introduce staff to new techniques and concepts while continuing education of current firefighters. Supervises the maintenance of equipment and vehicles to ensure safety and effectiveness. Participates in the budgeting process to provide input to the expenditure of funds and procurement of wildland equipment and apparatus. Participates in the policy, procedure and guideline development for fire and medical response to ensure firefighter safety. Provides guidance to other senior leadership related to wildland response and hazard pre-planning. Prepares pre-incident plans with our partners by identifying hazard mitigation needs prior to catastrophic events to reduce risk for communities.
