Overview
The Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation is recruiting for a forester vacancy in the St. Johnsbury District office. The successful candidate will work as part of a team responsible for the management and administration of public land in the district. A major job duty that will be expected of this position is the administration and support for the Heavy Cut and Acceptable Management Practices laws within Caledonia, Essex and Orleans counties. It is anticipated that time will be split equally between regulatory oversight and management of public land.

Specific duties required of the Forester II will include:
  • Technical assistance to loggers, foresters and landowners related to the Heavy Cut law and the State's AMP rules. Review applications and investigate compliance related to the Heavy Cut law.
  • Investigate complaints related to potential water quality violations associated with timber harvesting within the district.
  • Implementing forest management activities on State Land within the district
  • Maintenance of access infrastructure on State owned and eased lands within the district.
