West Virginia Division of Forestry, retired, contracts to train her replacement and initiate the Women Owning Woodlands program in West Virginia.

Women are natural nurturers, that includes caring for forests. It is important to support women in this role, because many women don’t know where to find guidance and resources. In previous decades women were not the target audience of this information. They did not have the opportunity to provide input regarding the management of land for which they were part owners. Women only a few years older than me were often discouraged from pursuing forest management as a profession. I was lucky to have the opportunity to study forest management in the mid to late 1970’s and find my niche in this profession.
