Women comprise a large and growing portion of US woodland owners. Although research indicates women show greater environmental concern than men, women are significantly less likely to participate in conservation and management activities on their land. Weaving together empirical research and practical experience, this highly interactive field tour/workshop highlights key strategies and resources for engaging women landowners in management and conservation activities and institutionalizing best practices for outreach and education programs that are inclusive of this growing and underserved population. During a 1- to 2-mile woods walk with Oregon WOWNet members, participants will gain hands-on experience with best practices for engaging women landowners. The workshop also includes a visit to the Hopkins Demonstration Forest and time indoors in a workshop setting discussing challenges and solutions for engaging women landowners and working in small groups to create strategies for developing programming to address particular needs.

This workshop is intended for natural resource professionals that work directly with private landowners or rely on private landowners to undertake conservation and land management activities to reach landscape goals.
