GIS Applications Developer

The New York Natural Heritage program works with DEC's Bureau of Invasive Species and Ecosystem Health to promote, review, and manage New York's Invasive Species Database, iMapInvasives ( A partial list of the GIS Applications Developer position includes:

  • Serve as GIS Applications Developer for the NYNHP invasive species database team (the iMap team):
  • Develop, maintain and support user tools for field data collection on smartphones and tablets, and provide ongoing support and updates through regular feedback meetings.
  • Develop, maintain and support methods for users to view summary/analysis data online.
  • Develop and implement methods to share iMapInvasives data with other data management systems via web feature services.
  • Together with the iMap team, provide input, feedback, testing, and review to the development, and on-going maintenance of the iMapInvasives online site and infrastructure.
  • Support the iMap team with GIS analytics and other GIS needs to empower further development and management of specific tools/applications.
