GIS Applications Developer

The New York Natural Heritage program works with DEC's Bureau of Invasive Species and Ecosystem Health to promote, review, and manage New York's Invasive Species Database, iMapInvasives (imapinvasives.org). A partial list of the GIS Applications Developer position includes:

  • Serve as GIS Applications Developer for the NYNHP invasive species database team (the iMap team):
  • Develop, maintain and support user tools for field data collection on smartphones and tablets, and provide ongoing support and updates through regular feedback meetings.
  • Develop, maintain and support methods for users to view summary/analysis data online.
  • Develop and implement methods to share iMapInvasives data with other data management systems via web feature services.
  • Together with the iMap team, provide input, feedback, testing, and review to the development, and on-going maintenance of the iMapInvasives online site and infrastructure.
  • Support the iMap team with GIS analytics and other GIS needs to empower further development and management of specific tools/applications.
