Guild Gathering in California - Collins Pine

Topics will include multi-age prescriptions for thinning, regenerating, and burning. We will discuss the use of maximum SDI for guiding the timing of thinning re-entry periods, appropriate basal area retention, and species mix in relation to impacts brought on by more severe weather cycles affected by climate change. You won’t want to miss the meaningful discussions, good food, and great comradery at this Guild Gathering. You don’t need to be a Guild member to participate, so register today!

Registration includes the field tours, Friday dinner, camping, and Saturday breakfast.

Friday, October 13

Meet at Collins Museum, Collins Pine Company
500 Main Street, Chester, CA 96020

Noon - 1:00 pm - Bring your own brown bag lunch and eat while getting to know each other at Collins Museum.

1:00 – 5:00 pm - Leaving from the Collins Museum, we will tour the W.M. Beaty and Associates managed forests near Westwood, and the Almanor Ranger District of the Lassen National Forest prescribed burn.

6:00 pm – Dinner from the barbeque truck at Collins Pine Company.

Overnight accommodation options include:

  • Camping - included in registration fee if you'd like to set up your tent on the  expansive Collins Pine Co. lawn and use the adjacent Technician House bathroom facilities.
  • Local lodging - Best Western and Antlers Inn are options in Chester, CA (cost not included in registration).

Saturday, October 14

7:00 am - Continental Breakfast at Collins Museum.

8:00 am - 12:00 pm - Leaving from Collins Museum, tour the Collins Almanor Forest.
