Oak Symposium: Sustaining Oak Forests in the 21st Century through Science-based Management

October 24-26, 2017, Knoxville, TN

The University of Tennessee (UT), Department of Forestry, Wildlife, and Fisheries
is hosting an oak symposium in Knoxville, TN, October 24-26, 2017, to provide
information on state-of- the-art management and research for sustainability of the
upland oak forests in the Central Hardwood Region. The symposium will feature
over 30 invited speakers on topics such as silvicultural methods, prescribed fire,
economic markets and wood products, forest health, wildlife habitat, and climate
change adaptation of upland oak forests. A poster session will provide an
opportunity for participants to showcase their work. A field trip will feature
collaborative research between the UT Forest Resources AgResearch and
Education Center, the UT Tree Improvement Program, and the Southern Research
Station.
