Outstanding Forester

The Forest Stewards Guild's Director of Science and Programs, Zander Evans, was honored at the recent Southwest Society of American Foresters meeting in Flagstaff, Arizona. Zander received the Outstanding Forester award for 2017 because of his exemplary efforts and contributions to the profession of forestry, particularly promoting sound forest management in New Mexico and the Southwest. Zander has served as Research Director for the Forest Stewards Guild based out of the Santa Fe, New Mexico office since 2005. Zander is involved in local collaborative efforts to improve forest management as a board member on the Southwest Fire Science Consortium, and he conducts research published in numerous peer-review journals and management oriented reports to support on-the-ground implementation of ecological forestry.
